Access to tower and belfry for purposes of maintenance and cleaning prior to resumption of ringing and generally

 

There is only one point of entry to the tower, this should be cleaned prior to entry and upon exit and not accessed again for 72 hours. Liaison with the Church Wardens and any other key holder will be necessary to confirm access times. The Event Manager must supervise arrangements.

All persons entering the church to then enter the tower should wash hands thoroughly prior to entry and again after exit. Hand towels used to be bagged and removed from premises.

Anyone entering the tower to arrive at a designated time so that access can be controlled, supervised and a social distance of 2 metres be maintained

Whilst the tower is being accessed, the ringing room should be kept aired by the opening of the door to the external roof and the window to maximise natural ventilation

The belfry itself is naturally ventilated but must not be entered alone

All work that is likely to be carried out in the belfry itself will be dirty and dusty and appropriate clothing that can be removed and cleaned afterwards should be worn.

Face masks should be worn at all times whilst working in the belfry itself and a social distance of 2 metres should be observed

Any ringing of the bells to be entirely at the approval of the incumbent and for specific purposes as agreed and for a short period or as per current Church of England and Central Council of Church Bell Ringers Guidelines
